Dear Finn,
My dear, sweet little boy…your turned 6 this past month! Your birthday anticipation was clearly evident from the end of September. Although your excitement tried my patience at times, it did take me back to when I was younger and how times moved so slow or almost stood still before a special occasion. Perhaps as we get older, the special days lose a little bit of their luster and the level of excitement wanes? Thank you for the reminder to not take these moments for granted and to be excited…the anticipation helps build the specialness of your day- and you deserve it…we all do!
So while this might not mean that much to you now, please use this as a reminder when you get older. Keep your candy jar to count the days. Let the excitement and anticipation build. It is your special day- keep it magical!
I’m looking forward to counting the days until your 7th birthday- and many, many more to come- and sharing in that excitement with you!
I love you!

Dear Maddy,
This month, you turned 9 years old…I think I’m still in disbelief! I can’t believe how fast it has gone and how fast you have grown up. You continue to amaze me everyday. You have come so far from the first night in the hospital. I couldn’t wait to see the person you would become; however, at 9, while I am still curious as to the woman you will become, I’m just trying to enjoy the moment and the girl that you are now…because I know that the time will go by way too fast.
Happy 9th birthday, my sweet, sweet girl! I can’t wait (but I will) to see what this year has in store for you!
I love you!

dear maddy,
this month, you are turning nine…even though at times, it feels like you are jumping straight into your teenage years! perhaps those are just moments to help prepare me for what lies ahead! i must say, however, that we have come to agreement on how to handle the times we do not get along: “I don’t always like you, but I will always love you!” i love how we can take a time out but then come back and discuss the situation and know in our hearts and heads that no matter what, we will always love each other, and we will work something out.
so, while i much prefer the times i both love you and like you, remember that i will always love you no matter what!
love,
mom
